Description

Senna leaf extract belongs to a large genus of flowering plants found throughout the tropics. Commonly used species are Cassia acutifolio (Alexandrian Senna) and C. angustifolio (India or Tinnevelly Senna). Extracts of senna leaves, flowers and fruits have been used as laxatives and stimulants in folk medicine for centuries. Senna is also contained in several herbal teas for purification and weight loss. The active ingredients of senna extract are anthraquinone derivatives and their glycosides, referred to as senna glycosides or senna glycosides.

Function
